Start Your New Life at Hazleton PA!!

Dear Panhandler / Homeless,

I have seen you panhandling or hanging on the street for a while. Every time I passed by, I felt sympathetic and obligated to help you. You look as good as other people, and I believe if you have been struggling to move up, you deserve my help.

Since several years ago, I have purchased and delivered thousands of sleeping bags to homeless people sleep on the street, park, woods ..etc. in the Greater New York area with my wife and 4 boys. But I realized what homeless really need is a home, so I launched a project to help the homeless to obtain a home at Hazleton PA. Hazleton PA was picked naturally because many homeless people I helped were able to successfully start their new life there.

Hazleton City is located between Scranton and Allentown in Pennsylvania with direct bus connection from New York City. Susquehanna Trailways 800 692-6314 has 50% off bus fare, $20+ round trip, every Wednesday and Saturday, and can be board daily at Track #14 of Port Authority Bus Terminal at 41st St and 8th Ave of New York City. Maple Cottage Hotel 570 455-4615 at 120 W Maple St charges only $50 a week is 3 blocks from Susquehanna Bus Stop 570-459-0787 at 21 S Church St, next to which you can buy $1+ per pack cigarette at Grand Smoke Shop 570 454-2202 231 W Mine St Hazleton. Labor Ready 570 450-5003 at 33 N Wyoming St send you to work and pay you daily at the end of each day; it is only 4 blocks down. Library 570 454-2961 at 55 N Church St is also one block away where you can read books or use Internet computer.

According to local newspaper Standard Speaker 800 843-6680 at 21 N Wyoming St Hazleton, there are many job openings, and the Classified Ads shows a furnished room costs only around $100 a month for single and $170 for couple, and a two bedroom apartment around $250. Hazleton Public Transportation costs only 75 cents a trip and free to senior, but most places are within walking distance to NYC bus stop.

The Welfare office there could help you on deposit and first month rent and food stamps to cover grocery. The Salvation Army 570 454-1631 at 400 Broad St is a new building provides free lunch and food to go and free shelter once you become the residence of the county.

More importantly, many ex homeless people settled down there are willing to help and share with you their successful experience, and I will stand behind you. I would make sure you get a color TV, in addition to microwave, refrigerator, table, chair, bed …etc. I would also get you a computer when you got your phone line setup so that you can be prepared for better future and better job. I would also help you to get a car and help you buy your own house.

If you like to smoke or drink, the cost there is so low, but if you would like to quit, there are several hospitals that have detox program to help you. If you would like more education, Hazleton has largest campus of Penn State University there.

For more information, you may call Maple Cottage Hotel 570 455-4615, Labor Ready 570 450-5003. Mike at 570 956-4169 can help on apartment, and Nick Dapgo 570 454-8208 can help furnished room rental.

This is just an example to show that homeless people can move off homelessness by themselves.
